Privacy Policy

The short version: Smokehour has no accounts, no advertising trackers and no cookies, and we don't collect, store or sell personal information. Your location is used in your browser to sort dispensaries by distance and isn't sent to us.

Your location

When you tap “Near me”, your browser asks for permission to share your location with this page. If you allow it, the page uses it on your device to measure distances to dispensaries. It is not sent to our servers, not stored, and not added to the page's web address, so links you share don't reveal where you are. You can turn location off at any time in your browser settings.

Searches

• Towns and ZIP codes are matched on your device.
• Searches that look like a street address (for example, ones with a house number) are looked up through our server by an address-search service: Geoapify, or komoot's Photon as a backup. They receive the search text, but not your IP address.
• If you search for a town, ZIP code or address, it's added to the page's web address so the result can be bookmarked or shared. Keep that in mind before sharing a link to your home address.

Feedback

If you send feedback or report a problem with a listing, we store what you write, the type of feedback, the page or store it's about and, if you give one, your email address, so we can fix listings and reply. We don't store your IP address with it. Feedback is kept with our database provider, Neon, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.

Services that load the page

• Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.
• Map images come from OpenFreeMap. Like any online map, it receives your IP address and the area of the map being shown.

On your device

We save one setting in your browser's session storage: that you confirmed you're 21 or older (or a registered patient). It lasts until you close the tab, so we ask again on your next visit, as Connecticut law requires.

Links to dispensaries and maps

When you open a dispensary's website, we add a tag to the link (for example utm_source=smokehour) so the dispensary knows the visit came from us. Your browser also tells them our site name, but not your search or your location. “Directions” opens Apple Maps or Google Maps, and “Google reviews” opens the store's listing on Google Maps. Once you leave our site, that company's privacy policy applies.

Age

This site is intended for adults 21 and older and registered medical marijuana patients. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone, including minors.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
